Can I replace GOOGLEFINANCE with Query Streams and iTick?

Yes. Query Streams with iTick is a comprehensive GOOGLEFINANCE alternative. It delivers real-time data (not 20-minute delayed), supports cryptocurrency and forex, covers international stocks, and lets you query with full SQL. It replaces every use case GOOGLEFINANCE serves and adds many more capabilities.

Does Query Streams support crypto prices in Google Sheets?

Yes. Unlike GOOGLEFINANCE which has zero cryptocurrency support, Query Streams streams live crypto prices for hundreds of pairs including BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, SOLUSDT, and more. You get real-time quotes, daily OHLCV history, and tick-level data for building a cryptocurrency price tracker spreadsheet.

How does iTick data get into Google Sheets?

The Query Streams Agent connects to iTick via WebSocket and caches market data locally in a DuckDB database. You then query this data using SQL through the Google Sheets add-on. Queries run against the local cache for instant results, and the WebSocket connection keeps the cache updated in real time.

Is iTick free to use with Query Streams?

iTick offers a free API plan with access to delayed and real-time data for a limited number of symbols. Combined with a free Query Streams account, you can test the full integration at no cost before upgrading to a paid tier for more symbols and features.

What market data tables are available via SQL?

Query Streams provides SQL access to four DuckDB tables: quote_live (real-time price quotes), prices_daily (historical daily OHLCV), tick_history (raw WebSocket tick stream), and depth (order book / market depth with bid/ask levels).

Can I get Hong Kong stock prices (HKEX) in Google Sheets?

Yes. iTick covers Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) listed stocks. Add symbols like 0700.HK (Tencent) and 9988.HK (Alibaba) to your watchlist and query live Hang Seng Index constituents and Hong Kong stock prices directly in Google Sheets using SQL. GOOGLEFINANCE has no reliable HKEX support.

Can I get Singapore Exchange (SGX) stock prices in Google Sheets?

Yes. iTick covers Singapore Exchange (SGX) listed stocks. Add symbols like D05.SI (DBS Bank), O39.SI (OCBC), Z74.SI (Singtel) to your watchlist and query live SGX stock prices, Straits Times Index components, and Singapore blue chip stocks directly in Google Sheets using SQL. This is a major advantage over GOOGLEFINANCE which has no reliable SGX coverage.

Can I stream live stock prices into Google Sheets?

Yes. With WebSocket streaming enabled, the quote_live table reflects the latest tick within seconds of actual market movement. Run a SQL query from the Google Sheets add-on and data streams directly into your spreadsheet with real-time stock prices, change percentages, and volume.

How is this better than Finsheet or paid spreadsheet data add-ons?

Unlike Finsheet ($20-90/month) which is limited to Google Sheets formulas, Query Streams provides full SQL access to a local DuckDB market data cache, real-time WebSocket streaming, multi-asset support (stocks, crypto, forex, indices), secure query sharing, and works in both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel from a single setup.
