Is the Agente online?
Test connection, Browse, Re-check and every query run on the Agent’s computer. When the Agent shows Offline, none of them can work. This page shows where to look and how to bring it back, on Windows, macOS and Linux.
O resultado final será o que você obterá.
A green dot next to your Agent in Agentes de dados, which means it is connected and ready. The Agent is the small program on your own computer or server that reads your data; the Query Streams website can only reach your data while that program is running and online.
Check it in Data Agents
-
Agentes de Dados Abertos
Aberto Agentes de dados (sob Dados in the top menu). Your agents are listed down the left side, one row each, with the name you gave the Agent when you installed it.
-
Look at the small dot on the Agent’s icon
Each row has a small dot at the corner of its icon. Green means Online. Red, slowly pulsing, means it is not connected; the row also says Offline in red, just before the number of connectors. Hold the mouse over the dot and it reads Online ou Offline — agent is not connected.
-
Click the Agent to see how long it has been away
Click the row. The Agent’s card opens on the right. An offline Agent has a red OFFLINE badge next to its name and a line that reads Last seen followed by a time, for example Last seen 2 hours ago. That time is usually when the computer went to sleep or was switched off, which tells you where to start. An online Agent shows Conectado and a time instead.
What Offline stops
Everything that has to touch your data runs on the Agent’s computer, so while it is offline:
- Teste de conexão is greyed out. Hold the mouse over it and it says Agent is offline — start the agent to test the connection.
- Browse cannot open folders. It says Agent is offline — type the path, or start the agent to browse; you can still type a path, and it is checked when the Agent comes back.
- Verifique novamente (for example the Microsoft Access engine check) cannot answer, and schema capture waits: Agent offline — capture will not run until it reconnects.
- Queries from Excel, Google Sheets, an AI assistant or the REST API do not run, and the connector’s status reads Offline: The Data Agent is currently offline.
Nothing is lost. Changes you save while it is away are kept and applied the moment it reconnects.
Agent on Windows
If the computer is asleep or switched off
This is the most common reason by far, especially on a laptop. Wake the computer or switch it on, sign in if it asks, and wait a minute or two: the dot in Data Agents turns green on its own, and you do not need to do anything in Query Streams. To stop it happening again, tell Windows not to sleep while it is plugged in:
Not comfortable with this? Ask whoever looks after your computers to set this computer to never sleep when plugged in, or reply to support and we will do it with you.
-
Open the power settings
On the Agent’s computer, click Start, então Configurações (the gear icon), then System in the list on the left, then Power & battery (on a desktop computer without a battery it may just say Power).
-
Open the sleep timeouts
Clique em Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts. A short list of drop-downs opens underneath.
-
Set sleep to Never when plugged in
Find the drop-down for When plugged in, make my device sleep after (the wording varies a little between Windows versions; it is the one about sleep, not the screen) and choose Nunca. There is nothing to save; the change applies straight away. The screen can still turn off; only sleep stops the Agent.
A computer that is always on works best. If this is a laptop that leaves the office, consider installing the Agent on a desktop or server that stays on instead.
If the computer is on but the dot stays red
The Agent runs as a Windows service, a program that starts by itself in the background before anyone signs in. If that service has been stopped, the computer can be on and the Agent still offline.
Not comfortable with this? Ask whoever looks after your computers to start the Query Streams Dataverse Agent service, or reply to support and we will do it with you.
-
Open the Services app
On the Agent’s computer, click Start and type Serviços. Click the Serviços app in the results. A window opens with a long, alphabetical list of names.
-
Find the Agent in the list
Click any name in the list, then press Q on the keyboard to jump to the names starting with Q. Look for Query Streams Dataverse Agent. Read two columns on its row: Status e Startup Type.
If there is no Query Streams Dataverse Agent at all, the Agent is not installed on this computer. Install it from the Download page, following Instale o Agente no Windows.
-
Start it
Se Status is blank, right-click Query Streams Dataverse Agent e escolha Start. A small progress box appears for a few seconds, then the Status column reads Running.
Se Startup Type says Disabled, Start is greyed out. Double-click the name instead, change Startup type para Automatic, clique Apply, then click the Start button in the same box and click OK. Automatic is how the installer sets it, so the Agent starts again by itself after every restart.
-
Watch the dot turn green
Back in Agentes de dados, wait a minute or two. The dot turns green and the OFFLINE badge goes away; you do not need to refresh anything.
If the Status already said Running and the dot is still red after a few minutes, the service is fine but it cannot reach the internet. See the next section.
If any of this does not match what you see, or Windows shows an error when you click Start, stop and reply to our support email with a photo of the screen. We will walk you through it.
If the service is Running but the Agent is still Offline
The Agent connects out to Query Streams over the internet; nothing has to connect in to it, so no firewall rule is needed on its computer for this. But it does need to get out. On the Agent’s computer, open a web browser and go to querystreams.com.
- The page does not load: this computer is not on the internet. Check the network cable or Wi-Fi, then wait a minute or two for the dot.
- The page loads, but the Agent stays offline: something on your network, usually a company proxy or a strict firewall, is blocking the Agent’s own connection. Ask whoever looks after your network to allow outgoing secure web traffic from this computer to querystreams.com, or reply to support and we will tell them exactly what to allow.
Agent on macOS
If the Mac is asleep
A sleeping Mac takes the Agent offline. Wake it and wait a minute or two. To keep it awake while plugged in:
-
Open the sleep setting
Clique no botão Apple menu (top left), then System Settings. On a MacBook, click Battery in the list on the left (you may need to scroll down), then click Options. On an iMac, Mac mini or Mac Studio, click Energy em vez de.
-
Turn on the switch that prevents sleep
On a MacBook turn on Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off. On a desktop Mac turn on Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off. Some Macs do not offer every option; if yours has no such switch, send us a photo of the screen.
If the Mac is awake but the dot stays red
On a Mac the Agent runs as a background service named com.querystreams.agent. You check and start it from terminal, the Mac’s window for typed commands.
Not comfortable with this? Ask whoever looks after your computers to run the two commands below, or reply to support and we will do it with you.
-
Open Terminal
Press Command e no space bar together, type terminal, and press Retornar. A window opens with a line ending in % ou $ and a blinking cursor.
-
Check whether the Agent is running
Type the line below and press Retornar. It asks for Senha: type the password you use to sign in to this Mac and press Retornar. Nothing appears as you type the password; that is normal.
Type this, then press Returnsudo launchctl list | grep querystreams
A line ending in com.querystreams.agent with a number at the start means the Agent is running; skip to step 4. If the line starts with a dash (–) instead of a number, or nothing comes back at all, it is not running: go to step 3.
-
Start it
Type the line below and press Retornar:
Type this, then press Returnsudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.querystreams.agent.plist
Usually nothing is printed. Run the command from step 2 again; it should now show a number at the start of the line. If this line says the file does not exist, the Agent is not installed: follow Install the Agent on macOS.
-
Watch the dot, or send us the log
Wait a minute or two in Agentes de dados. If the dot stays red although the Agent is running, the Mac cannot reach the internet or something on the network blocks it; the checks in the Windows network section apply exactly the same. If you are stuck, send us the Agent’s log file: it is /usr/local/querystreams/agent/logs/agent-stdout.log.
A warning from macOS when the Agent first starts? The Agent is signed and notarized with Apple, so macOS should not block it. If a box appears saying the software cannot be opened or checked, do not click anything else; take a photo of it and send it to us.
If any of this does not match what you see, stop and reply to our support email with a photo of the screen. We will walk you through it.
Agent on Linux
If the server is up but the dot stays red
On Linux the Agent runs as the systemd service agente de fluxos de consulta. Run these on the Agent’s server, in a terminal or over SSH.
Not comfortable with this? Ask whoever runs the server to check the agente de fluxos de consulta service, or reply to support and we will go through it with you.
-
Verifique o serviço
Type this, then press Entersystemctl status querystreams-agent
Read the line that starts with Active:. ativo (em execução) in green means the Agent is running; skip to step 4. inactive (dead) means it is stopped, and failed means it stopped with an error. Press q para recuperar sua solicitação.
-
Start it, and make sure it starts after a reboot
Type these, pressing Enter after eachsudo systemctl start querystreams-agent sudo systemctl enable querystreams-agent
Neither command prints anything when it works. Run the status command from step 1 again: it should say ativo (em execução).
-
If it will not stay running, read the reason
If the status shows 203/EXEC (RHEL, Rocky, Alma, Fedora), SELinux is blocking the program; relabel it and restart:
Família RHEL: correção 203/EXECsudo restorecon -R /opt/querystreams/agent sudo systemctl restart querystreams-agent
If it shows 226/NAMESPACE, the service definition is from an older Agent; run the installer again from the Download page and it is replaced. For anything else, print the last 40 log lines and send them to us:
Type this, then press Enterjournalctl -u querystreams-agent -n 40 --no-pager
-
Running, but still Offline
The server cannot reach the internet, or a proxy or firewall blocks outgoing traffic. The same checks as on Windows apply: try curl -I https://querystreams.com from the server, and if it answers, ask whoever runs the network to allow outgoing secure web traffic to querystreams.com.
Online, but files in /home cannot be found? That is a different problem: the Linux service is not allowed to look inside home folders. See Where the Agent can read files from.
If any of this does not match what you see, stop and reply to our support email with the output pasted in, or a photo of the screen. We will walk you through it.
If the Agent is online but on an old version
The Agent keeps itself up to date, so this is rare. The Agent’s card in Agentes de dados shows its version next to its name, for example v2.6.6. An Agent that has fallen behind can be online and still refuse some things: a connector type shows a chip like Agent 2.6.6+ and the message needs agent version … or newer — update the agent, then add the connection, or a toast says Agent build too old.
-
Download the current installer
On the Agent’s computer, open the Download page and download the installer for that computer’s system, as you did the first time.
-
Run it over the top
Run it exactly as the first time. You do not need to remove anything first. If the Agent’s setup page appears and says Previous installation found, clique Restore previous setup: the Agent keeps its name and all its connections.
If it never came online after installing
A brand-new Agent goes online at the end of its setup, on a screen titled Agent online com um Comece agora button. If setup stopped at the Access key step instead, the message under the box says why:
| Mensagem | Causa | Consertar |
|---|---|---|
| Access key not found. Check the key and try again. ou This access key isn’t valid. Check it and try again. | The key was mistyped, only part of it was pasted, or it has a space at the end. | On the Download page, find the box headed Sua chave de acesso e clique em Copy access key. Click in the Access key box, delete what is there, paste, and click Check key. |

| This access key has expired. | The key was replaced. | Copy the current key from the Download page. |
| Your plan allows … agents, and all of them are in use | Your plan’s agent slots are taken, often by an old Agent on another computer. | Em Agentes de dados, select the old Agent and click Delete agent (move or delete its connectors first), then click Check key again. Or upgrade your plan. |
| Couldn’t reach the agent service. Please try again in a moment. | The Agent’s service on this computer is not running. | Start it: Janelas, macOS, Linux. Then try again. |
| Couldn’t reach Query Streams. Check this machine’s internet connection. | The computer is not online, or the network blocks it. | Check the connection. |
| This agent was removed from its organization. Run setup to register it again. | The Agent was deleted in Data Agents. | Let setup run again and paste your access key, then add its connectors again in Agentes de dados. If it was deleted by mistake, reply to support primeiro. |
